Lisle Police Investigate Reports of Sexual Assault at Benedictine University

The case is still under investigation and no criminal charges have been filed in the incidents so far, police said.

Lisle and Benedictine police are investigating reports that two females were sexually assaulted in a Benedictine campus dorm, officials announced Monday night.

One of the females in the assault is a Benedictine student and the males suspected of being involved are Benedictine students, according to a news release. Benedictine first contacted Lisle police about the sexual assault reports on Sept. 15.

Lisle police met with the two females at Edward Hospital in Naperville and several males at the Lisle Police Department to discuss the events that took place, the release said.

As of Monday, the case is still under investigation and there have been no criminal charges filed regarding this incident.

"The police reports are being prepared for review by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, and any criminal charges will be approved by their office," the release said.

Please remember that charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.
