EVENTS: Lisle-Woodridge Firefighters Spreading Awareness With Open House, Annual Awards

Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 9 - 15 with the theme "Protect Your Family From Fire." Three events this week are open to the public.

Interested in learning how to keep your family safe in the event of a fire? Formulate an 'Escape Plan,' and practice home fire drills. Or check out these LWFD-sponsored activities for Fire Prevention Week:

  • Both residents LWFD fire personnel, including the Firefighter of the Year, are honored at the Annual Fire Prevention Week Awards Ceremony on October 13, 2011 at our at 6:30 p.m. (See our coverage of .)
  • Firefighters participate with other local fire departments in the Silent Parade on Oct. 14. Engines will travel west on Maple through the village at approximately 6:30 p.m., ending at , where a short service will be held. This event is open to the public and will pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
  • On Saturday October 15, 2011 the fire district will open their fire stations to the public for tours and apparatus viewing from 10 a.m.. – 2 p.m. The district encourages residents to stop into their local fire station and meet the men and women that protect them. LWFD stations 1, and are located in village limits.
