Dad Threatens to Kill Lisle Coach and Rape His Family, Prosecutors Say

Angry that his daughter was pulled out of a volleyball game, 61-year-old John Kasik went after the school's coach and athletic director and now faces felony charges, according to authorities.

A Lisle dad faces felony charges and possibly three years in prison for making death threats against his daughter's high school volleyball coach.

John Kasik, 61, threatened to kill the coach, rape his wife and daughters, left hours of angry voice and text messages on the coach's phone, and then — in a meeting with the Lisle High School athletic director — began physically  bumping the man as he tried to leave his office, according to authorities.

Kasik posted a $30,000 cash bond Monday and is expected back in court Nov. 19. He was arrested Friday at his home in the 4400 block of Arbor View Drive, according to the Daily Herald.

“It’s unfortunate when parents react this way and take their frustrations out on school personnel,” DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin told the paper. “We will protect these people so they can do their jobs and not have to worry about these kinds of threats.”

What prompted this bizarre outburst?

Authorities said Kasik’s temper flared after his daughter was pulled from a volleyball match that her team lost on Thursday. Afterward, he followed (Athletic Director Dan) Dillard’s vehicle, pulled up next to him and began shouting about the game.

Dillard invited Kasik to discuss the issue at school the following day. But Kasik went home and left numerous text messages and voice mails threatening Varsity Volleyball Coach Matt Hrubesky, Berlin said. The messages continued for about five hours, from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., according to police.

“He left voice-mail messages telling the coach he’s going to rape his wife and daughter and kill him,” Berlin said.

Friday morning, Kasik came to school but when Dillard tried to end the meeting, Kasik "bumped" him and kept him from leaving his office.

This man has some serious mental issues. I feel sorry for his family as well. If this is how he reacts this situation, can you imagine what he must do to his own family?! I hope he gets jail time. No plea deal!

very unfortunate, especially at his age (61). not too smart, either by leaving a message that was recorded. somehow i feel this is not his first rodeo. no doubt this is tough for the high school kid, but she can;t be blamed for a crazy father.

Wow! What a nut. This goof is extreme but there are so many parents out there that always complain because their kids aren't playing enough. I had first hand experience and many parents have blind love. They cannot see that their little Johnny is not good enough to compete. When a couch loses most of his games to please all the parents and their kids, he loses his job. But in no way am I support this goof!

Understand what you guys mean and feel bad for all involved parties, his family doesn't deserve that nor do the victims deserve being threatened that way. He definitely did wrong and owes much apologies; jail will not fix anything. Must be fully evaluated by the State Medical Board certified physicians and psycho therapists. Thank all the officials involved and personnel; victims please see to forgive thy neighbor, everyone seek to provide this man professional treatment because this family doesn't deserve that and people need to have more heart with their comments. Hope everyone resolve this matter and for all the people just get along in prosperity, happiness and peace of mind.

3 years in jail at least, and some kind of monitoring afterward.
