Dad Threatens to Kill Lisle Coach and Rape His Family, Prosecutors Say

Angry that his daughter was pulled out of a volleyball game, 61-year-old John Kasik went after the school's coach and athletic director and now faces felony charges, according to authorities.

A Lisle dad faces felony charges and possibly three years in prison for making death threats against his daughter's high school volleyball coach.

John Kasik, 61, threatened to kill the coach, rape his wife and daughters, left hours of angry voice and text messages on the coach's phone, and then — in a meeting with the Lisle High School athletic director — began physically  bumping the man as he tried to leave his office, according to authorities.

Kasik posted a $30,000 cash bond Monday and is expected back in court Nov. 19. He was arrested Friday at his home in the 4400 block of Arbor View Drive, according to the Daily Herald.

“It’s unfortunate when parents react this way and take their frustrations out on school personnel,” DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin told the paper. “We will protect these people so they can do their jobs and not have to worry about these kinds of threats.”

Authorities said Kasik’s temper flared after his daughter was pulled from a volleyball match that her team lost on Thursday. Afterward, he followed (Athletic Director Dan) Dillard’s vehicle, pulled up next to him and began shouting about the game.

Dillard invited Kasik to discuss the issue at school the following day. But Kasik went home and left numerous text messages and voice mails threatening Varsity Volleyball Coach Matt Hrubesky, Berlin said. The messages continued for about five hours, from 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., according to police.

“He left voice-mail messages telling the coach he’s going to rape his wife and daughter and kill him,” Berlin said.

Friday morning, Kasik came to school but when Dillard tried to end the meeting, Kasik "bumped" him and kept him from leaving his office.
