Court Update: Man Accused of Impersonating U.S. Marshal Indicted

John C. Campbell, of Downers Grove, was indicted on counts of aggravated impersonation and forgery.

The Downers Grove man has been indicted. A grand jury indicted John C. Campbell on two counts each of aggravated impersonation of a police officer and impersonating a police officer, as well as a single county of forgery. He is accused of telling a employee and a Lisle police officer that he was a federal agent. He also was in possession of a starter pistol when he made the same claim at a car dealership, records show. Campbell, 29, also forged paperwork in an attempt to buy a vehicle. Campbell returns to court Jan. 9.
