Coroner Releases Identity of Man Killed in Wheaton Crash; Bail Set for Man Charged With DUI

Sean Hurley, 24, of Wheaton, died at the scene of the early morning crash on Saturday in Wheaton.

The DuPage County Coroner has released the identity of the man who died Saturday in a crash that occurred after prosecutors said a group of friends decided to go for a "joy ride" after a night of drinking.

Sean Hurley, 24, of Wheaton, was the front passenger in a car driven by a 22-year-old Bolingbrook and died at the scene of the crash that occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Meanwhile, a judge on Tuesday set a $500,000 bail for the Bolingbrook man, Luis Jimenez, who is charged with aggravated DUI involving death, accruing to the DuPage County State's Attorney's office.

The man who died in the crash was Sean Hurley, 24, of Wheaton, according to the DuPage County Coroner. If convicted, he could face up to 14 years in prison.

Prosecutors said the accident happened when Jimenez was traveling at "a high rate of speed" around a curve on Sheffield Lane in Wheaton when he lost control and crashed into a tree.

A rear seat passenger, whose name has not been released by officials, was severely injured, according to the news release.
