Puppy Parlor

As many know, Companion Animal Protection Society (CAPS) of Chicago, protests the Puppy Parlor in Lisle on daily basis.  The following is a short video of the backroom of Puppy Parlor with pictures taken from the Department of Agriculture.  It's quite disturbing, but this is why the CAPS group is out at Ogden and Main in Lisle, on a daily basis to stop the abuse of the poor dogs and educate the public regarding puppy mills.  Puppy Parlor was in the top 100 worst puppy mills in America by the Humane Society of the United States.  Puppy Parlor was the only store in the country on the list.  Please see the link below:

Thank you!

Rita's got it! Why won't they follow the law? Pretty straight-forward!! Bolingbrook did it! Lisle passes the buck!
Tom S. September 04, 2013 at 12:09 AM
Laurel, go suck an egg.
Tom S. September 04, 2013 at 12:11 AM
If I was your dog, Laurel, I'd be asking for foster parents.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 12:12 AM
Sorry Tom, but I've lost a lot of faith in this village as of late. I had to go to the CEO of Service Master just to get a dumpster off my back fence. I was going to the village about it for close to a month, nothing done about it. It wasn't until I literally blew up over it because I saw liquids spewing out of it, draining onto MY property and I went to the CEO was anything done about it. I never even received, hey thanks for emailing us and letting us know. I let every trustee, including the mayor know about it. I'll tell you this much, if it were in their back yards, it would've been taken care of THAT day and I wouldn't have had to go the extremes I had too just to get a damn dumpster off my fence. My faith in the government in this town is pretty much zero at getting anything done unless it's in Green Trails, or one of their pet projects, or their buddies. Sad I had to go those extremes just to get a damn dumpster moved!
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 12:20 AM
That's not even going into how the government of this town has let the flood victims down. Had it been Green Trails that flooded, they'd be bending over backwards to help those folks out. More than half the flood victims are still not in their homes. So please, do not tell me how mean I am being when it comes to the things this village does, I've been more than patient. There's absolutely no reason this stupid pet shop that abuses these ADULT animals, leaves them in crates 24/7 drinking out of hamster bottles, never let out to see the light of day or socialize and gets the puppies from breeders that are known to be puppy mills in Ohio and Iowa, can't be closed. I have ZERO faith in the Lisle governmental body at this point, ZERO!
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 12:23 AM
I'm sorry, Tim Seedon was the only trustee who said he'd get back to me.
Tom S. September 04, 2013 at 12:25 AM
Rita, I am sorry. You are the only sane one of the bunch on this crazy blog. I don't care about them. I don't care that they want to make me into a relative of the puppy parlor (which I am not). But they will not believe that anyway. They have an agenda and that is that. I will still do my best for those animals, because I love animals. That is the only reason.
Laurel September 04, 2013 at 12:28 AM
Sucking on an egg while filling out a foster application for my dog.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 12:31 AM
Good night folks
Laurel September 04, 2013 at 12:35 AM
Out of respect for what this blog was intended for I will stop responding. When people decide to judge and not be factual and I take the bait I admit I've gone a bit overboard. It is maddening to not stick to the subject at hand and I have been guilty of that myself tonight and for that I apologize. Have a good night all!
Tom S. September 04, 2013 at 12:36 AM
My dog, Peppe is sleeping soundly tonight knowing that he has someone who loves him unconditionally. I only wish the same for all the dogs in the world.
Tom S. September 04, 2013 at 12:43 AM
Thank you for the apology, Laurel. It is bringing back my hope for all humanity. I truly appreciate it. Good Night all.
Dianne Arp September 04, 2013 at 12:44 AM
Go suck an egg??? Your dog would ask for foster parents?? That's not only mean, Tom, it's childish too. Please, let us know how the Village responds to your questions. We'll be watching here for your updates.
Tom S. September 04, 2013 at 12:59 AM
Everyone on this blog needs to grow up. This is not Junior High School. You cannot be the bully for the rest of your lives. Let's get together and do what is best for these dogs.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 01:16 AM
Tom, if you do go to the village about this, would you please post what you find out or what they say. I would really, really appreciate it. Now I need sleep, been trying but this is just bugging me now that I started up about the darn village. Night, again. And please, everyone, please play nice.
Dianne Arp September 04, 2013 at 01:16 AM
And that, my friends......is the sound of Tom's credibility going right out the window.
Dianne Arp September 04, 2013 at 01:50 AM
^ Aaaaand.....he continues to make my case for me
Dianne Arp September 04, 2013 at 08:15 AM
For those who missed it, here's the obnoxious comment Tom S deleted: "Dianne, thank you for making an a** of yourself. When you graduate from Junior High School.....give me a call."
Jeannine S September 04, 2013 at 09:50 PM
I found out through reading Joanna Smith's blog that the Humane Society of the United States is not a government thing but a private organization who doesn't have any say so in who doing right or wrong in the pet business. Carla told me today the store pasted a USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) inspection yesterday and they can say who can operate any kind of pet business. So my question still is-If the local, state and federal government regulatory departments pass the store in their inspections how can they being doing the things people on here and other place say they are being cruel or abusive to the puppies and dogs in their care? Seems to me Tammy would no longer have a license and maybe even have been arrested if she and her employees were being abusive and cruel. Not trying to start another long drawn out bulling/nasty comment thing back and forth, just looking to let people make up their own minds by checking the store out for themselves instead of basing their decision about it on what they read here and else where. I apologize to anyone I offend in my other posts, which I did not delete myself but are still gone from on here.
Ida Mccarthy September 04, 2013 at 10:00 PM
USDA Jeannine? Please get educated. And I finally agree with you. There is no need for any more talking. Pictures speak louder than words.

Lisle will act once a lawsuit is filed.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 11:04 PM
Against them Maria or against Puppy Parlor? Puppy Parlor already was in small claims and lost last week. They sold a schnauzer last winter saying it was only 4 years old and was a rescue. The person took it to the vet, only to find out it was ten years old, had callouses all over it's belly (leaving the vet to say, this dog never got to be a dog a day in his life and had lived it's life in a crate) and it's teeth so bad, they had to remove 14+ teeth. Guess who lost. Oh that's right Puppy Parlor lost. Now hopefully they'll pay the person, I'm not betting on it though.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 11:04 PM
It also had a slew of other health issues, those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.
Maria September 04, 2013 at 11:20 PM
Against Lisle. Staff granted a zoning variance for a use not permitted (kennel) without proper legal notice and without holding a public hearing. Due process denied to property owners within 1200 ft.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 11:25 PM
Very, very true. As far as the kennel goes, I wil quote Mr Tony Budzikowski: ................................................................................................ The Puppy Parlor was classified as a Pet Shop which is a permitted use in the B3A Central Retail Core District. Section 5-10-3(A)(1) identifies the list of permitted uses in this district. Although there is not a definition of pet shop in the zoning code, a pet shop is considered to be a retail business which sells different kinds of animals, pet food, animal supplies and pet accessories. ..................................................................................................... As far as the zoning and use that you referenced, I disagree with your assessment and still consider the Puppy Parlor use a retail pet store and not a kennel. Although they may utilize cages to house the dogs, I do not consider this business a kennel because the housing of the animals is not the primary use of the pet store. The pet store sells pet products and dogs for retail sales and this is what classifies the use as a pet store and a permitted use in the zoning district. .............................................................................................. Those are both from Mr Budzikowski. I'd love to know how many collars and leashes compared to dogs have been sold on this premises. Anyone that thinks that store's primary income is collars and leashes, plain and simple, is a fool.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 11:32 PM
Apparently Mr Budzikowski has never been in that back room or bothered to watch this video when I sent it to him, the mayor and the rest of the trustees. Or they just don't care and are turning a blind eye so a store front in Lisle isn't empty. What they don't realize is the fact, no one wants to rent the store next door because of this place. Go by the back door, you can hear the dogs barking and begging to get out. Do you have any idea how many people have complained to us on the streets about the smell and stench in that store? It's pretty sad the village refuses to do anything about this store, but then too, it's not to surprising either. Like I've said, I've lost faith in the government of Lisle. Not the police, but surely the elected officials.
Maria September 04, 2013 at 11:35 PM
Well, TB is the same guy who said 170,000 gallons of diesel fuel stored ABOVE ground in tanks 250 ft from homes, school, and forest preserve was an "accessory" to Navistar's once proposed use of "research" back in 2009. He is not qualified for his job.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 11:53 PM
If you'd like to scroll up Maria for my latest altercation about Service Master, if you haven't seen it already, you'll understand why I'm so upset with the village right now. I have YET to hear ANYTHING from the village besides Tim Seedon. Only ones I heard from was the CEO of SM and the regional manager who flat out told me no liquids should have been coming out of that dumpster. She even acknowledged that at the time, we hadn't had any rain in quite sometime so there's no way it could've been rain water. There's absolutely no reason in the month I had been asking for the village to get it cleaned up, they couldn't have. They just didn't want too. But I'll be darned if it was one of their backyards, it would never have even been an issue. I knew full well what living behind a business would be and in the 15 years we've been here, we've never had an issue. Had I known the village only cares about imposing the zoning and ordinances when it fits them and their agenda, I never would've bought this house, as much as I love my house.
Rita Pereira September 04, 2013 at 11:59 PM
Oh and Best Little Hair House In Lisle, that used to be in the store between PMP and Johnny's, gone because of PMP and the stench and noise bothering her and her customers. Long time business, gone. Love to know why the village took PMP's side over a long time business. Or who's getting paid off or what's being held over someone's head to be honest!
Rita Pereira September 05, 2013 at 12:02 AM
I think I'll have to start looking into that zoning variance you speak of Maria, thanks for the heads up!
