Annual Depot Days Celebration Makes Its Way Into Lisle This Weekend

The 28th annual Depot Days festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at , 921 School St., Lisle.

Depot Days will feature food, entertainment, family fun and more. Attendees can enjoy blacksmithing demonstrations, grind corn, sample old-fashioned homemade apple pie and see what life was like almost 100 years ago.

All ages are welcome.

Beginning at noon and hourly each day until 4 p.m., a group of Civil War re-enactors will fire a Civil War cannon as part of the celebration. In between firings, the group, dressed in Civil War uniforms, will be on hand to explain how the cannon fires, talk Civil War history and lead visitors through several displays including a Civil War encampment, in which members of the group will spend Saturday night.

From noon to 2 p.m. each day, a special Civil War luncheon will be served under a tent in the commons featuring three favorite dishes of different Civil War generals. Prepared by Wheatstack - A Midwestern Eatery & Tap as facility of the Lisle Park District, the luncheon will feature General Hill’s bean soup, General Butterfield’s shepherd pie and General Butler’s bread pudding. Cost of the luncheon is $7 per person.
