Baby Born at 15 Ounces Survives; Discharged from Area Hospital

Meghan Hope Pacyna was born on July 9 and was discharged from Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove on Tuesday.

A "miracle baby" born seventeen weeks premature on July 9— and weighing only 15 ounces — was discharged Tuesday from Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, according to the Daily Herald.

Meghan Hope Pacyna's arms were so small when she was born that her dad's father wedding ring could fit over it and she has "battled numerous complications" in the past months, including an eye disorder, a nearly fatal blood clot in her abdomen and week lungs, according to the article.

Meghan's mom, Rene Pacyna, was at her own baby shower when her water broke on July 9, according to WGN-TV. Her and her husband, who live in Schaumburg, had been trying for years before Rene became pregnant with Meghan, according to WGN-TV.
