Lisle Woman's Club Meeting

Ladies, do you want to help the needy and enjoy a variety of social activities?  If so, you are invited to attend the Sept. 5 meeting of the Lisle Woman’s Club.  It will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room at Lisle Library, 777 Front St.

Opportunities to socialize will be from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Next, the members will discuss and then decide upon which organizations they will help this club year.

Members will hear a report about what social activities are on the 2012-2013 club calendar, such as theater outings, book club discussions, gourmet food sessions, holiday cookie exchange date.

Lisle Woman’s Club was chartered in 1963. Its first project was working to have a public library in Lisle. Currently the club’s major philanthropy is awarding scholarships to high school students who live in Lisle and a scholarship to a Lisle woman who is returning to school to complete her education. Earnings from the annual “Garden Gait” garden walk make this philanthropy possible.

The club is affiliated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) and the Illinois Federation of Women’s Clubs. The GFWC, founded in 1890, has members in every state and more than a dozen countries.
