‘GIVE THANKS BY GIVING BACK™’ to Lisle VFW Vets...

Lisle businesses are accepting donations to provide Vets with comfortable chairs. Tina's Closet® and other participating stores in downtown Lisle are inviting members of the public to ‘Give Thanks by Giving Back™’ to raise money so that the US Veterans of the Lisle VFW Post #5696 have comfortable chairs to sit and watch TV.

‘The Tina’s Closet® success story actually began over 50 years ago when the US soldiers freed my mother and father from Nazi internment during WWII.’ Tina explained nostalgically. ‘Without the dedication and sacrifice of the men and women of our country’s armed forces,’ confided Tina, ‘none of this would ever have been possible.’ Tina added, ‘To these brave men and women, I owe a true debt of gratitude: giving them a comfy chair to sit and watch TV is the least that we can do.’

'It is so rewarding to hear that the comfort of our soldiers is important to members of the local community,’  emphasized Colonel Brett Nila, Commander of the Lisle VFW Post #5696. ‘Because of Americans like our local business owners and their customers, our Vets will be able to enjoy TV while sitting in a comfortable chair,’ Nila affirmed.

‘Believe it or not, small things like having a comfortable chair mean a lot to our Vets,’ confirmed Teri LeDantec-Boswell, Lisle resident and organizer of the 'Give Thanks by Giving Back™' event. 'My Grandfather was a WWI Vet and my Dad was a Korean War Vet;' Teri added, 'sometimes just offering them the smallest bits of comfort made them so happy.'

‘This is even more important because so many of us have family members who are Vets,’ added Christine Kaufman of Past Presence, one of the ‘Give Thanks by Giving Back™’ business participants on Main Street. ‘I’d want my Dad and Uncle to have a comfortable place to sit when they visit with their fellow Vets,’ adds Christine, ‘In exchange for the freedoms that we enjoy today, that’s the least that we can do.’
