Ives: A Game Changer

Candidate's October Endorsements Cite Ability to Stand by Principles and Shake Up the Status Quo

As election-day draws closer, voters look for candidates who can stand by a tough
position in an environment where deal-making and compromise are “the way”;
legislators who challenge the status quo; and can begin to repair the damage
caused by years of bad policy and lack of principled leadership.  In the forty-second district, major news organizations and advocacy groups agree that Jeanne Ives (Republican) is a legislator with the potential to be the game-changer voters are seeking in Springfield; and have, therefore, given her their endorsements for State Representative (D-42).

The Chicago Tribune, The Daily Herald, and the Naperville Area Chamber PAC have given their endorsement to Jeanne Ives.

In their endorsement, The Chicago Tribune stated that West Point graduate, Ives
“is a no-nonsense member of the Wheaton City Council who helped negotiate
contracts with the city's unions that were fair and reasonable for
taxpayers.  Ives understands the urgent need for pension reform, including eliminating pensions for legislators. She hasn't received much help from House Republican leadership. That's good. The best thing the party can do for her is stay out of her way … she's eager to cast unpopular votes.”

The Daily Herald’s October endorsement asserted that Ives “has studied the issues, met with community leaders and, not only understands how state government works, but also how it doesn’t work … [Ives] will hit the ground running and won’t be afraid to shake things up in Springfield if she is elected … In this election, the focus is on state finances first and foremost. She understands
the need to fix these long-standing problems, has some specific ideas, and on
that basis, she earns the nod.”

The Naperville Area Chamber PAC, an organization that is the primary advocate for the Naperville regional economy, endorsed the pro-business candidate in both
the primary and general election, stating, “Jeanne Ives is a new entrant into elected office, but has already proven to be a force for positive change on the Wheaton City Council and would be an excellent voice for our businesses and residents in Springfield. Ives is a committed public servant, veteran and reformer and won’t be afraid to shake things up in General Assembly. Ives will use her superb judgment and qualifications to find solutions to the challenges facing our state, including further reform of our public sector pension systems. We know that if given the opportunity, Jeanne Ives will contribute to solving the problems facing our state and we are proud to endorse her candidacy.”

Jeanne Ives is honored to have received these highly sought after endorsements. She stated, “I understand the work that needs to be done in Illinois. I know that I
am being sent to the state legislature because my constituents have issued an
ultimatum for a policy revolution in Illinois. I am honored that they believe
in my ability to gain ground in the fight for this transformation.  I will not forget the values and priorities of those I represent. I will advocate for them at every decision point.”

A well-respected and active member of the Wheaton City Council, her tenure in
public service has been marked, not only by conservative leadership and an
unwavering commitment to the taxpayers’ bottom line, but also by standing up to
political apathy, rigidity and obscurity.
