Week In Review: DuPage and Kane County Court Cases

A man goes to court to get a red light conviction thrown out.

DUPAGE:
Darien:
- Jacob Nodarse returns to court June 30 for a status hearing.

Glen Ellyn:
- Demarco Whitley returns to court on June 28 for another status hearing.

Naperville:
- Harold Guzman, accused of stealing thousands of dollars in jewelry from a car parked at a hotel, was supposed to go to trial on June 28, but he's got a new attorney and will only be appearing for a status on that day.
- Also on June 28, John Kannaby - of Downers Grove - is scheduled for a hearing in his attempt to get a red-light ticket conviction in Naperville thrown out. Naperville attorneys say he didn't file his request for administrative - i.e. a judge - review in time and that the appeal should be tossed. Kannaby disagrees, spelling out in court filings he started this process within the allotted time last summer.

Wheaton:
- Former Wheaton City Council candidate Derek Bromstead is set for a bench trial on June 28 in his domestic violence case.

Woodridge:
- Sunitha Budithi is scheduled for another status hearing on June 29.

KANE:
Geneva:
-
Chuck West returns to court June 29 for what will either be arguments on another motion to dismiss officials misconduct charges against him or a ruling on that motion.
- Also on June 29, Circuit Clerk Deb Seyller's case against the county returns for another status hearing.

St. Charles
- Cathleen Koch, the mother charged in connection to her daughter's beating last year, is asking a judge to throw out her statements to St. Charles police, saying she wasn't read her rights, was misled by the cops about what information they wanted from her and was considered a suspect long before being charged, which is why police were so aggressive with her.
