Study: Lisle Less Likely to Have Internet Access than Naperville, Woodridge

Lisle scores slightly above the national average for in-home service, but lower than nearby ZIP codes. Where is access available?

Homeowners living in the 60532 ZIP code are less likely to have home Internet access than residents in Darien, Woodridge, Glen Ellyn and parts Naperville, according to a study.

Lisle scored a 117 in the Chicago Business' Market Facts study of home Internet access throughout Chicagoland. The figure was average for DuPage County municipalities, which ranged from 104 (Bensenville's 60106) to 135 (Naperville's 60564).

The national average is represented by an index of 100, the study said.

The library is equipped with 17 public computers between youth and adult services, in addition to two 15-minute terminals and email-capable scanners. Library staff said they see a continuous stream of computer users throughout the day, especially on weekends.

"In the morning, we tend to be pretty full on our PCs, [with] less people around lunch-time, and then a steady flow from about 2 p.m. on to when we close,” explained adult services assistant director Jen Ohzourk.

Library staff lead classes in basic Internet and email use, digital photography, resume and cover letter writing, and job searching. These sessions are open to card holders and non-card holders, as well as residents outside of Lisle’s district.
