National Weather Service Predicts 'Significant Snowfall' on Friday

As much as six inches is expected to accumulate during Friday's winter storm watch.

 

DuPage and several counties in northern Illinois are under a winter storm watch beginning Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS issued the watch alert Thursday morning, with snow expected to arrive around daybreak and last through Friday evening, 'tapering off to light snow or flurries by early Saturday morning.' NWS estimates six inches of snow is possible.

Friday evening commuters, beware: the heaviest bouts of snow are expected to fall Friday afternoon through evening, with estimated snowfall rates at one inch per hour.
