National Weather Service Issues Excessive Heat Watch

The agency issued an alert warning DuPage County residents about excessive heat and humidity.

The National Weather Service issued an alert warning DuPage County residents to avoid the excessive heat.

According to the NWS, temperatures could reach the high 90s today and the humidity will be "oppressive." The high temps are expected to last into the night, offering little relief and the heat watch will remain in effect until Thursday night.

The agency is encouraging residents to drink plenty of water, stay out of the sun and to stay in air-conditioned rooms.
