UPDATE: Metra Spokesman Says Evening Commute Should be Back to Normal

No labor dispute at Metra, according to a Sun-Times report.

UPDATED: 3 p.m.
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that a shortage of “qualified” engineers caused delays of up to an hour on the Metra West Line this morning, but evening trains should be operating with only a few minor delays.

A combination of vacations, training and illness—not a labor dispute—led to a shortage of engineers, according to the article.

Metra BNSF trains have been running at 15-20 minute delays throughout the afternoon, according to Twitter updates.

The delays are caused by "manpower issues," according to Metra's website and numerous e-mail alerts.

At least six trains have been canceled and many are running well-behind schedule.

A Metra spokesperson attributed the tardiness to a combination of family leave and staff training.

The Daily Herald is reporting that 13 engineers failed to clock in today

It's unclear how this will affect the rush hour commute later today.
