Library Gets Ready for Wellness Week Activities

Here's a rundown of special events being held at the Lisle Library District this April.

In celebration of National Library Week, the will host a series of  health and fitness events.

Beginning on April 10, and continuing through the following Saturday, adults and children can participate in the library's scavenger hunt. There’s a prize for everyone who correctly completes the fitness puzzle.

On April 14 from 4 - 5 p.m., there will be a youth soccer demonstration by Didi Barreto, a former member of the Brazilian Women’s National Soccer Team. Didi has played in two World Cup competitions and two Olympics! Sign up for this workshop online or in-person.

On April 15 at 7 p.m., chef Michael Niksic will give a demonstration of healthy cooking techniques. There will be samples and recipes provides. Sign up to help us get a count. The event will be in the Meeting Room.

On April 16 at 11 a.m. in the Meeting Room, we’ll have a Heart Rate Monitor Workshop with Joann Dellatorre where you can receive proper instruction in the use of a heart rate monitor to achieve your cardiovascular exercise goals.   Joann is an Ironman athlete.

Also on April 16 at 1 p.m., there will be introductory yoga demonstrations for both adults and children. Kids’ Yoga will be held in the Youth Services Department. Introduction to Yoga for adults will be held in the Meeting Room. Find the benefits of increased energy, improved balance, and better coordination. Bring a towel or yoga mat to participate.

And also on April 16 at 2:30 p.m., there will be a demonstration of dance movements to strengthen core muscles.
