French Market Opens for the Season

It was a windy, but sunny day for the start of the Lisle French Market. This year, the market features both new vendors and long-time participants.

The Lisle French Market is again open for the season, inspiring the community to come together to support area businesses.

Windy Acres Farm from Geneva has participated for 20 years, well before the Saturday gathering went by the name of French Market. Amanda Srail represented her family farm over the weekend, and can recall being around helping her family run the business on weekends since she was in second grade.

Salvatore Fulco of Elena's Cucina from Roselle is back for another year and will be there every weekend. But be sure to get to his booth early. He's known to sell out of his homemade focaccia bread every week.

The farmer's market also welcomes many new businesses as vendors this year. Mamie's homemade treats features fudge that is there for the sampling. Pam and her son, Josh Bolen, will be attendance every week.

Kathie Dobrowolski who runs the new business, Somewhat Organic Soap Company, was a stop for everyone who visited the market last weekend. Free smells of her line of bath products will be available to entice shoppers once a month.

Lisle French Market goers can look forward to an array of handcrafted jewlery, homemade goods, fresh produce, live folk music, a balloonist and more throughout the season. Opened last weekend, the market runs every Saturday to Oct 29.  Hours are 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., rain or shine.
