Elmhurst:
In an effort to avoid any potential conflicts, a special prosecutor has been appointed to handle the drug case of a DuPage County judicial candidate's son. Collin O'Shea, whose father is long-serving DuPage County Board member Patrick O'Shea, is charged with selling cocaine in March. During an April 11 hearing, Judge Robert Kleeman agreed to appoint an appellate prosecutor to try the case instead of DuPage County prosecutors. The state's attorney's office acts as legal counsel to all county employees, including the county board. Patrick O'Shea is also on the November ballot to claim a seat on the bench in DuPage's 18th Judicial Circuit. Collin O'Shea returns to court May 16 when he is expected to be arraigned.

St. Charles:
One of two men accused of carrying out a 2010 home invasion and robbery has had his trial rescheduled for September. Sam Aunner is charged with breaking into a St. Charles home with Redrell Bradley, tying up two men and taking their iPhones. Aunner and Bradley were originally scheduled to stand trial on April 30, but that was before prosecutors filed to have the two men tried together in one trial. Aunner's trial is now set for Sept. 17, although he will be in court on April 26 for a status hearing. Bradley is expected to appear in court April 19.
