Court Watch: Naperville Man Denies Mental Evaluation in Murder Trial

A roundup of recent cases in DuPage and Kane counties.

DUPAGE:
Glen Ellyn:
A Jan. 6 bench trial was scheduled in the dispute between a group of residents and Glen Ellyn over whether the village followed its own ordinance for approving a cell antenna installation on a water tower. The case, which was in court on Oct. 26 when the judge set the trial date, stems from a broader 2008 lawsuit over installation of the equipment. A portion of the suit was returned to the circuit court by appellate judges earlier this year.

Naperville:
A man accused in the attempted murder of his mother has declined to participate in a mental fitness evaluation ordered in his case, court records show. Alexander Georg is charged with trying to strangle his mother and then stabbing her during an incident at their home in August. Georg has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder, aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery. He remains in DuPage County Jail on $1.5 million bail. A judge has set a hearing on the progress of the evaluation attempt for Dec. 5.

Wheaton:
A 72-year-old Wheaton man pleaded not guilty on Oct. 24 to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a young girl in 2007, records show. Glenn Camp, last of the 200 block of South Morgan, was recently indicted on the charges he grabbed the girl's buttocks more than four years ago. Camp is free on $35,000 bail with orders to stay away from the Morgan Street address and to have no contact with any females under the age of 18. He returns to court Nov. 21.

Woodridge:
The scheduled trial of a Woodridge mother charged with endangering her children was postponed until January after a brief hearing on Oct. 24. Sunitha Budithi was arrested in May after a fire started at inside the family's home. Prosecutors allege Budithi left her two children alone in the residence at the time of a fire, which reportedly was ignited by a candle. She has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges.

Kane
St. Charles:
After failing in an attempt to have her statements to police thrown out, Cathleen Koch is now scheduled to go to trial in March on charges related to the 2010 beating of her daughter in a St. Charles motel. Koch's reported boyfriend - James Cooper - is charged causing severe injuries to the young girl, while Koch is accused of lying to police investigating the case. She had attempted to have her statements suppressed, but a judge denied that request last week after several hearings. Cooper is now trying to have his comments to police suppressed, and is due for a Dec. 1 hearing.

A Rockford man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to exposing his genitalia to patrons of a gym, and touching another man with it. Lawrence Adamczyk recently admitted to an aggravated battery in a public place charge related to the June 28 incident at on Randall Road. Prosecutors dropped two other counts as part of the plea. Prosecutors said Adamczyk will receive 95 days credit toward the prison time and that he has a previous conviction for a similar offense in Winnebago County.
