Court Watch: Man Accused of Hiring Undercover Cop to Harm Executor May Not Be Fit for Trial

A roundup of notable cases in DuPage County.

Elmhurst:
Local attorney Earl Wilcek pleaded not guilty on Nov. 22 to a charge he stole thousands of dollars from an estate client. Prosecutors allege Wilcek took the money over a two-and-a-half year period from January 2008 until June 2010. He remains free on bond with a return to court expected in January in his criminal case. He's also scheduled for a January hearing in a recently filed lawsuit alleging Wilcek was negligent in causing a 2009 traffic crash.

Lisle/Naperville
A doctor's report indicates there is "bona fide" doubt whether Ladislav Fromelius is fit to stand trial on a charge he tried to hire an undercover police officer to carry out a beating, according to court documents. Fromelius is accused of offering to pay a total of $2,000 to the officer to commit the attack on the executor of an estate of which Fromelius was a beneficiary. Judge Daniel Guerin ordered a full fitness evaluation to be performed on Fromelius. Guerin also recently denied a request by Fromelius to visit family members, but did allow him to take business and personal property out of locations in Lisle and Downers Grove. He returns to court in January.
