Court Watch: Downers Grove Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Mail Fraud, Stolen Vehicles

Downers Grove:
A Downers Grove man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to mail fraud and stolen vehicle charges. Joseph Mazzio, 42, received a three-year prison term for bilking a woman out of approximately $7,500 in 2011. He was charged in that case while already facing two sets of charges from 2010 relating to possession of stolen vehicles. Mazzio received seven years in prison on those counts. The judge gave Mazzio credit for a little more than seven months he's spent in DuPage County Jail. Mazzio arrived for processing this week at Stateville Correctional Center.

Woodridge:
An Aurora man has been indicted on robbery charges stemming from a March 27 incident, court records show. Corey M. Johnson, 20, faces single counts of armed robbery and robbery alleging he used a knife to steal a wallet from a man. According to published reports, Johnson broke out the window of a car and threatened the man with a long-blade knife before demanding the wallet. Johnson remains held in DuPage County Jail on $200,000 bail. He is scheduled for an April 23 hearing, at which he could be arraigned on the charges which also include aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and unlawful use of a weapon, court documents state.
