Wheaton:
For a second time, the trial of a man shot after breaking into an off-duty police officer's home has been postponed. Kerin Ramirez was supposed to stand trial April 24 on home invasion and aggravated battery charges, but the case was again delayed by a witness being unable to testify. Several Ramirez supporters wearing "I am Kerin Ramirez" t-shirts attended the hearing only to learn the trial had been delayed. Ramirez will return to court May 15.

Woodridge:
Yashesh Desai, accused of killing his father last summer, "continues to show improvement mentally, physically and functionally" while in treatment at an Illinois Department of Human Services facility, according to court records. In November, Desai was found unfit to stand trial on charges he struck his father in the head with a piece of lawn equipment inside the family's Woodridge home. Attorneys will return to court in July for another update on Desai's condition. He is also charged with attacking a DuPage County Jail worker in an incident that occurred while Desai was held there on the murder charge.
