Schlenkerla Eiche "Oak-Smoke" Doppelbock Cask Tapping

Join the Bavarian Lodge for a very special tapping of a cask-conditioned, unfiltered and unpasteurized Bavarian smoked doppelbock. This glorious beer, brewed only once a year for winter release, will be served directly from a wooden gravity-fed cask tapped right on the bar. The photo above shows the filling of the wooden casks at the tiny artisan brewery in Bamberg, Germany.

Traditionally, the malt at the Schlenkerla brewery is smoked over beech wood. However, the malt for Schlenkerla Eiche "Oak Smoke" is kilned exclusively with oak, creating a smoother and more complex smokiness, perfectly balanced by the bitterness of Germany's finest Hallertau hops. This glorious, rich, deep amber-hued smoked doppelbock is brewed to a bold, warming 8% ABV. This beer is then matured for several months in the cellars underneath the brewery in Bamberg. Brewed once a year for a winter release, this is a truly special treat for smoked beer lovers.

The special wooden cask of Schlenkerla Eiche "Oak Smoke" Doppelbock will be tapped at approximately 6:00 pm at the bar. Its delicious contents will be available to everyone in both the restaurant and pub on a first come, first served basis. Don't miss it!
