Try a Great BBQ as Summer Winds Down

Or celebrate everything France at Cantigny.

We’ve got the best bets for when the work week is over and you're ready to get out. Check our picks for the activities to hit.

1. YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN
Where/When: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Grounds For Hope Cafe, 2710 Maple Ave.
Why Go: The Players, Please Theatre production of the musical based on the comic strip runs weekends through August.
Pricing: Adults $18; students and seniors $15.

2. DANCE PERFORMANCES
Where/When: 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Contempo Dance Academy, 4723 Main St.
Why Go: Ballet performances, a swing dance performance, and a mini-swing dance workshop to be held during the open house.
Pricing: Free.

3. WIZARD OF OZ THEATRE-HIKE
Where/When: 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at , 4100 Lincoln Ave., Lisle.
Why Go: "The Wizard of Oz" is performed while through the Arboretum grounds. Each theatre-hike presents a different scene at a different location on the Arboretum grounds. Audience members walk to each location to enjoy the unfolding story. Regular hikes, which can cover up to two miles with multiple stops along the way, are on Saturdays, and low-impact hikes (suitable for strollers, walkers and wheelchairs) are on Sundays.
Pricing: $13-$19.

4. FRENCH CONNECTION DAY
Where/When: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at Cantigny Gardens & Grounds, 1s151 Winfield Rd., Wheaton.
Why Go: A day-long and family fun as Cantigny celebrates everything France, to commemorate the personal history of the park’s benefactor, Robert R. McCormick. Col. McCormick named his Cantigny estate after a French village, scene of the first American victory during World War I.
Pricing: Free with $5 paid parking.

5. GREAT AMERICAN BBQ
Where/When: 4-10 p.m. Saturday at Wheatstack - A Midwestern Eatery & Tap, 5900 State Route 53.
Why Go: Sports memorabilia silent auction; and drinks specials; raffles; entertainment by Lisle's own "Strong Enough," a Sheryl Crow tribute band. All proceeds benefit Lisle Partners for Parks.
