Family Establishes Scholarship in Memory of Man Killed in Bar Stabbing

After the Spring Brook Elementary School teacher's death earlier this month, his family has established the Shaun Wild Memorial Scholarship.

A scholarship has been founded in memory of Shaun Wild, the Spring Brook Elementary School teacher killed earlier this month in a bar fight at Frankie's Blue Room.

Through a DuPage County State's Attorney's Office press release, family members announced Friday they have established the Shaun Wild Memorial Scholarship.

"During his time, Shaun dedicated his life to helping others in the pursuit of personal development and communal excellence—through his devotion to academic and athletic excellence," the family said in the news release. "The Wild family and friends will continue Shaun's vision and feed his passion by inspiring future generations of student athletes, awarding a scholarship in Shaun's name."

"Shaun was a constant source of positivity, evidenced by his determination and focus; sprinkle with the perfect amount of silliness. Everyone who knew Shaun will miss him dearly," the family said in their statement. "… As we all celebrate Shaun's life, we humbly ask for your support in sharing Shaun's legacy."

Wild was killed early Feb. 4 after police said Daniel J. Olaska stabbed him and two other people at a bar in downtown Naperville.

After a court date Friday morning, Olaska will appear before Judge Kathryn Creswell again March 2. Defense attorneys were given time to process additional video and photo evidence they received this week.

Wild's funeral services were held last week in his hometown of Brown Deer, WI. Before his death, Wild was living in Lisle.
