An Apology To The Dogs In The Back Room Of The Puppy Parlor:

We are sorry you were born to make a profit.

We are sorry you landed in the hands of a monster.

We are sorry you are being fed from hamster tubes.

We are sorry you don’t go for walks.

We are sorry you are in the dark alone for hours every day and every night.

We are sorry you have to poop and pee where you live in the cage and have to sit in it all the time.

We are sorry you don’t know what it’s like to enjoy a summer day in the sun and grass, or a winters day running in the snow.

We are sorry people scare you.

We are sorry you cry for affection.

We are sorry for all the awful smells you have to live with.

We are sorry when you get too hot or too cold.

We are sorry your spirit is broken.

We are sorry if you feel sick and nobody cares.

We are sorry if people hurt you with their hands.

We are sorry if you are hungry or thirsty.

We are sorry you don’t know what to do when you are taken out of your cage.

We are sorry you are sold to bad people sometimes.

We are sorry if the people that buy you, abuse you, or worse, or take you to the pound.

But most of all we are sorry the people who have the control to stop it, turn a blind eye.

Please join us on Saturdays from Noon till 2:00.  If you have been sold a sick or dying dog from Puppy Mill Parlor, please visit www.caps-web.org and fill out a pet store complaint form.  Thank you.

For Roseanna....from my blog. Please research a little better. The first few complaints we received, I have to update my blog. Consumer bought a dog and the dog was sick so she returned it. That was in June 2012. She still has not received her money back. Consumer purchased a dog in January 2012. The dog was diagnosed with a non-functioning left kidney, two different types of parasites and ear mites. Consumer purchased dog in February 2012. Dog was diagnosed with upper respiratory infection and mange. Consumer, (Cindy) purchased dog in December of 2012. She was told the dog was 4 years old and Tammy had it at her shop to re-home. The previous owner was an elderly lady who is now in a nursing home. When Cindy brought the dog home is started spinning in circles and would not stop. It didn't know how to drink out of a bowl, could not go up and down the stairs, was afraid of the outside and could not adjust to any room of the house. Cindy was up all night trying to help the dog adjust. After several days of no improvement, Cindy took the dog to her veterinarian. She got some horrifying news..... the dog is approximately 10 years old, has a tumor on the hind leg, callouses on his belly from sitting in a cage, and had to have FOURTEEN TEETH REMOVED. Cindy's vet said, " This dog has never been able to be a dog."

The State of IL defines both a pet shop and a kennel and licenses each separately. A kennel is not a permitted or a special use per Lisle code in the downtown business district. The Village needs to enforce its zoning! If this kennel is allowed to be in this location it sets precedence for a kennel like this to be allowed anywhere in Lisle. We have public hearings for gas stations, bus terminals, offices in downtown, Meijers, Navistar, and even Lucky Dog boarding and doggie day care... So why not for this kennel in downtown Lisle?
Rita Pereira July 24, 2013 at 10:31 PM
Questions we have been asking, over and over again. Answer...it's retail business. In my sarcastic opinion, since Lisle has proclaimed itself to be so "dog friendly" in the bi-monthly magazine, they'd rather see these dogs suffer, than have another empty store front in downtown Lisle.
Rita Pereira July 24, 2013 at 10:37 PM
The other excuse they will give you Maria, is we are not home rule.
Rita Pereira July 24, 2013 at 10:40 PM

Rosanna, here ya go. Complaints CAPS has received. I have to update my blog with the recent complaints. Also, we have a class action lawsuit pending with Happiness Is Pets. Please do your research. Consumer paid cash for the dog and the dog was sick so she returned it. That was in June 2012. She still has not received her money back. Consumer purchased a dog in January 2012. Ah, but because Lisle is not home rule, does the Village have the authority to change the definitions of pet shop and kennel (licensed by the State) as anything different than as defined by the State? This "we are not home rule" line works both ways, doesn't it? Just because a pet shop is retail allowed, that doesn't automatically allow another use in the same facility. If you had a restaurant that was allowed, that doesn't mean you can have a drive thru that operates 24 hrs or sell alcohol.

Exactly Maria, exactly!

Back up again...hmmm?
Roseanne Lynch July 26, 2013 at 11:13 AM
I did not delete my post and I am not a friend of Tammy. I resent your referral to me as "Roseanne Rosanna Danna, your mocking and personal smears are outrageous and as I said before cross the line of protest into bullying. I again submit that I am simply standing up for a business owner who is obviously being bullied by a bunch of thugs. You have not saved one puppy, not closed one "puppy mill" not stopped one person who chooses to purchase a puppy from a retail store. And once again, I am not a friend, relative nor do I even know Tammy C. I am concerned as a business owner that your personal vindictiveness has allowed this forum to actively attempt to cause a business to fail just because a few of you crazy women don't like it's owner.
Dianne Arp July 26, 2013 at 11:19 AM
Well Roseanne Roseanna Danna speaks!! Don't worry about us bombarding you w/insults - you do more damage to your reputation than we could EVER do or say. We just sit back and watch you shoot yourself in the foot. We've supplied you w/enough facts, yet you continue to support the fraud Puppy Parlor owner Tammy Coglianese commits daily. You continue to support an animal abuser. You support what, in my opinion, is a mentally unstabe individual. Your position, and that of Tammy Coglianese, is indefensible! What's your next 'cause' gonna be? Supporting child abusers?? And this, Lisle residents, is Roseanne Lynch, an ATTORNEY who works in YOUR town. I certainly hope you'll consider her comments on various Lisle Patch posts when looking for an attorney -- and judge for yourself
Dianne Arp July 26, 2013 at 11:30 AM
Aaaand....ahgain Roseanne Roseanna Danna - you are WRONG!! We HAVE shut down puppy mills, therefore saving LOTS of puppies. Didn't they teach you to do research in law school??
Dianne Arp July 26, 2013 at 11:35 AM
And we prevented numerous people from buying a sick puppy mill puppy from Tammy. In fact I talked w/a woman and her daughter last night during our protest. We stayed late and it payed off big time. They were SO disgusted by the FACTS we provided they drove to a local shelter. SCORE!!!
Rita Pereira July 26, 2013 at 12:17 PM
Why on God's Green Earth, being a business "owner" especially for bankruptcy in Lisle, with all the flood victims we have, and they know I am an advocate for them and they all know who I am, and my beliefs with the Puppy Parlor, would you even want to get involved in this Rossanne? Not very smart business. Remember hun, the truth ALWAYS comes out in the end, ALWAYS. Then what are you going to do? Remember, this is a "dog friendly" community, even though this store is somehow allowed by the village, even when it's ignoring it's own zoning laws. Blows my mind, but as the saying goes....every dog has their day.
Northsider July 26, 2013 at 12:37 PM
I happen to agree with you, Roseanne, that some of the comments on here have been outrageous. But most of the name calling and smears have been perpetrated by the local business owner. Calling people crater face, saying vegans are mean, and all of this other nonsense does make her look unstable. And the fact remains that this business is a fraud. She is running a kennel and not providing these companion animals with their daily needs, and this store is a blight on Main Street. Your getting involved reflects so poorly on you. It shows a lack of forward thinking and compassion, which is exactly what your clients need when planning for the future. So please think about that when aligning yourself with such unprofessional millers. I can't wait for the day when Internet sales and shops for companion animals are illegal? And not because I have a grudge about this particular business owner, but because I care about the millions of dogs that are being dropped in the woods and in shelters and being abused because people no longer want them. If more people went to shelters to get these animals, it would have a huge impact in these lives. THAT is what the protests are about.
Rita Pereira July 26, 2013 at 01:37 PM
Well said Northsider, well said, thank you!
Roseanne Lynch July 26, 2013 at 02:08 PM
I really cannot believe that you all would slander me and publish statements designed to stop people from using my services just because you do not agree with my opinion. The business is legitimate and supposedly your group wants to stop puppy mills. You are not stopping puppy mills at all, just wasting a lot of time trying to prove yourselves right. In the meantime, you are nasty and unkind to humans, namely me! You are right, I should not be involved in such matters, I am way too intelligent and a busy, successful professional, mother and wife. But, I happened to be in the area one day when I heard your group making verbal threats to people walking into the Puppy Parlor. I took it upon myself to investigate the claims and lawsuits and allegations of purchases from puppy mills etc. What I have seen is that there are no complaints about sick or dying dogs sold from this store. The complaints that were made by your organization were investigated and were unfounded. This is not protest, it is harassment. I am not aligning myself with anyone, I am not making a statement for anyone other than myself. I do not think it is right to harass people who are entering a legitimate business for lawful purposes. I do not think it is right to single out a business owner, whether that person is hateful, crazy or stupid, and try to put them out of business just because you do not like the person. If the Landlord does not want the business there or if it violates a City code it should be shut down but not because a few lunatics have decided that it is their "mission" to shut the business. I would feel the same way if it were any other type of business and I would stand by that person also. It is precisely because I am a good attorney that I take this stance, I would fight for any client the same way. I have seen many failed businesses in the past 30+ years and have seen the fallout from such failures affect entire families. This is my last comment, and my resignation from anything to do with Patch including my advertising dollars. (It is not because I am afraid of any of you by the way, so don't pat yourselves on the back with your "victory".)

"I really cannot believe that you all would slander me and publish statements designed to stop people from using my services just because you do not agree with my opinion." ...................................................................................................... WHO slandered you? If you're so busy with your practice, why are you on here wasting your time? ...................................................................................................... You're allowed your opinion, we all know what opinions are like ;) Might want to actually do some real research before you call our complaints unfounded. DOA has actual documentation of a Parvo outbreak and dead dogs in the freezer. You can't make that stuff up. Obviously you have no clue what is harassment and where it stems. Amazing how you can get such an assessment of two hours after being there for for a minimal time. There's a LOT more to it than you are seeing in that minimal time. One would being a lawyer, you would know there's always three sides to every story, his, hers and the truth. The truth will come out....soon!

Bryan W. Alaspa July 27, 2013 at 11:54 AM
Roseanne - there's opinion and then there's just being wrong. You fall into the second category. Again, it's simple - Tammy and her store promote puppy mills by continuing to get puppies from them. By raising awareness of the situation, we hope that this bring about change. By cutting of the need for these puppies, we hope to shut down the supply. We also work via politicians and other outlets to get laws passed that will shut down puppy mills. Sadly, the political system moves slowly and that does not happen fast enough. Thus, we go after the businesses that help keep them in business. We hope that at least one person considering buying a puppy will reconsider where they go - avoid places like Tammy's business - and visit a shelter. There's operating a good business and operating a bad one. Tammy is operating a bad one that harms puppies, and hurts the families who end up buying sick dogs. I am not against business. I am against businesses with flawed practices that hurt animals and people for the sake of profit. Those businesses either need to change the way they do business, or be shut down. Tammy can still change, and that would be fine. Until she does, however, we will continue to try to educate the public and stop as many as we can from using her store to buy sick, sad, mistreated dogs and perpetuating a system that keeps promoting sick dogs who are bred to death.
Rita Pereira July 27, 2013 at 12:04 PM
My girlfriend, 3 years ago, bought a puppy from there. Two days later ended up sick with pneumonia. Took the dog back to Tammy and she told her she wasn't refunding the money, all she could do was pick another dog. $3800, and selling a car that was cherished, Gizmo was finally better a month later. THIS is the kind of dog that is sold there and what we are trying to stop being sold there!

Buh-bye Roseanne Rosanna Danna. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out!! Have to admit, I'll miss your obtuse posts. Buh-bye now
Laurel July 27, 2013 at 08:04 PM
What an obvious attempt to try and bully The Patch! I kind of had a feeling that's where this was going. Your advertising dollars? What a hoot!
Rita Pereira July 27, 2013 at 08:42 PM
" If the Landlord does not want the business there or if it violates a City code it should be shut down but not because a few lunatics have decided that it is their "mission" to shut the business. " ..................................................................................................... Oh there's the slander, calling us lunatics! Thanks Roseanne for pointing it, I couldn't find it for the life of me until I re-read your post. Thanks!
Laurel July 27, 2013 at 08:49 PM
And this "Rosanne" had a a seat on the Chamber committee???? Lord help Lisle......
Dianne Arp July 28, 2013 at 11:31 AM
Dunno who Bryan W. Alaspa is - but I love him! Thank you for your support!!
Laurel August 23, 2013 at 03:46 PM
Here are your "babies" Tammy! Yeah, I shove my "babies" in cages with hamster tubes to drink out of and feeders on the sides. Those dogs must go insane being stuck in there all the time...it's not even like a crate, which some dogs may feel comfortable in...it's like a prison! You walk them all huh?? I think people would notice someone walking loads and loads of these small breed dogs outside every day............ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xyw8qh5Rayg

Why don't we put her comments from the lisle patch on signs (with The Swears Censored With Sharpie) And use it against her?
