Going above and beyond: Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital MVPs

Compassion MVP Award at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital

Fran Wilk, from Lisle, Nurse Clinician III, Critical Care Unit, is the 2nd quarter winner for the Compassion MVP. Wilk goes above and beyond when caring for her patients and the families of her patients. She was asked to do a speech for a memorial service for families of organ donors and immediately accepted. Wilk spoke spontaneously and directly from her spirit. She was poised, calm and personal. Many at this service found her words to be comforting and felt like this service helped them feel a sense of closure. She was truly a shining highlight of the service and her work in the CCU is greatly appreciated.

Mission, Values, Philosophy: An MVP is a person who exemplifies Good Samaritan Hospital’s core values, goes above and beyond the call of duty and strives to provide a holistic approach to health care.

  • Compassion – Unselfishly care for others, responding to others’ physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
  • Equality – Recognize and appreciate people for who they are. Treat all people with respect, integrity and dignity.
  • Excellence – Strive to do the best job possible. Pursue new ideas to improve care, service and quality.
  • Partnership – Take a team approach to benefit customers, other associates, patients and Advocate Health Care.
  • Stewardship – Solve problems rather than passing them on. Take responsibility for actions. Use time and resources wisely.
