DESCRIPTION:The Downers Grove Choral Society presents A Choral Thanksgivi
 ng: Te Deum on Sunday\, November 11\, 2012 at 3:00 pm. The concert will 
 be held at First United Methodist Church located at 1032 Maple Avenue\, 
 Downers Grove. Tickets can be purchased at www.dgcs.org or by phone at 6
 30.515.0030.\nThe Latin Te Deum text is an early Christian hymn of prais
 e\, one often used at times of thanksgiving. Each of the three composers
 --George Friedrich Handel\, Karl Jenkins and Herbert Howells--approaches
  the traditional text through a unique lens so the audience may experien
 ce the striking musical contrasts in structure and emotion. Listeners ca
 n expect to hear a variety of music\, from Handel&rsquo\;s recognizable 
 compositional style in the Dettingen Te Deum (commissioned in thanksgivi
 ng for the British army&rsquo\;s victory at the Battle of Dettingen agai
 nst the French)\, to Karl Jenkins joyous and percussive treatment of the
  subject to Howells&rsquo\;s dramatic and majestic work that incorporate
 s unified strength from the chorus. The Chorus will also present Ralph V
 aughan-Williams &ldquo\;The Voice Out of the Whirlwind\,&rdquo\; adapted
  from a musical ballet inspired by the artwork of William Blake to descr
 ibe Job&rsquo\;s tale of woe and salvation.\nThe chorus will be joined b
 y three outstanding soloists\, Downers Grove native Joseph Schlesinger\,
  countertenor\; Klaus Georg\, tenor\; and Keven Keys\, baritone.\nGenera
 l admission season tickets are available for $32. Those who subscribe to
  our 54th season will receive flex tickets good for both our November an
 d April concerts\, as well as reserved seating for our free concert in F
 ebruary.\n&nbsp\;
