Congratulations goes out to junior Ryan Kilroy who went 4 and 2 on the weekend and took 4th place in the state meet. Senior Brad Blechschmidt was defeated in the medal qualifying match and finished the tourney with a 2 and 2 record. Junior Brian Czyl got some good experience but failed to win a match during the weekend. This concludes a successful wrestling season with the Lions finishing 15-5 in dual meets.

Some Lisle High School seniors recently gave up their Halloween evening to help those in need, according to an article on the Lisle District 202 website. Friends of Feed My Starving Children is a new service club at the school, where students perform volunteer work with Feed My Starving Children in Aurora. Last month Patch featured a group of eighth grade students whose mission to complete service hours for their upcoming confirmation developed into a real passion for volunteering. Fifteen students from Lisle and Jefferson junior high schools attend Elizabeth Clifford's religious formation class at St. Joan of Arc Church. In the past year they contributed more than 500 hours to local events and organizations—well beyond the required amount for confirmation. Students being confirmed through St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church next spring show no shortage of enthusiasm for their newest hobby: volunteering. Introducing our first set of Whiz Kids for the school year! Throughout the summer Patch kept you updated on how many residents were involved in the Lisle Library's summer reading program. Kid and teen participants devoured more than 16,000 books over the course of just a few months—that comes out to nearly 13 books per child! from District 202 LSHS students Anne Begley, Kellie Brennan, Connor Corrigan, Maggie Corrigan and Melanie Early assisted Morton Arboretum staff and other volunteers in tagging 400 trees around Chicago's West Loop neighborhood last month in honor of Arbor Day. According to the Chicago Tribune, the tags represented the trees's environmental benefits in a 15-year span. from District 202 Continuing the tradition that began last year, the fifth grade students at Schiesher School have partnered with a non-profit organization called ‘Kenya Connects.’ Last year the money raised by the fifth grade students went to Sofia Primary School in Kenya (see the Youtube video above). With this money they were able to add lighting and windows to their classroom, as well as a water tower for clean water. from District 202 The 2010-2011 LSHS math team finished their season competing in the ICTM state competition at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. The team finished tenth overall in the 2A division, with a score of 476. The Lisle mathletes did very well in several of the events. The highest placing team was the Junior/Senior 8 person team that finished in second place, with 60 points. Did you miss the artwork of District 202 students in mid-March at the third annual district art show? Visitors had the opportunity to vote for the "peoples' choice" for each grade level, and those works are now being displayed in the front window at Past Presence. Students featured include: Emily Baur, Mike Huerta, Tara Kane, Kylie Kendra, Emily Krebaum, Shivangi Patel, Bich-Nhi Pham, Lydia Rossin, Eva Schoell, Stacy Spangler, Tessa Stastny and Abby Zellak.
