Welcome back, Patch Blogger!
The Morton Arboretum was the place to be on Saturday if you were interested in seeing some amazing feats of endurance. Volenteers from Adopt a Husky were on hand with many wonderful, friendly Sieberian Huskies in an annual event to showcase the dog's personality and athletic performance.  With a fresh coat of snow Friday night, the Siberian Husky dog sled demonstrations went off without a hitch.  Sleds were pulled by a single Husky or as many as a team of five. Huskies pulled a cross country skier, sleds and even a wheeled sled.  Enjoy the pictures from the day!
On a chilly night, Naperville North Huskies cheered on their football team as they battled against the West Chicago Wildcats, eventually winning by 38 points.

submitted by Prairie State Bassmasters On Aug. 5 Prairie State Bassmasters paired with A Generation Ahead for a youth fishing trip. Twenty-five participants, ranging from six to 12 years old, attended the event. The kids caught plenty of fish and had a great time as the Bassmasters baited hooks, removed fish and taught the kids to cast. The event was organized by Prairie State Bassmasters club Youth Director Bob Goy. Even with the hot weather, the kids did not want to quit fishing when the time was up. At the end of the day, it was hard to tell who enjoyed themselves more, the kids or the …
This week, the Lisle Library District's Wednesday Performance featured BMX rider Matt Wilhelm. Her performed several stunts (inside!), and emphasized the importance of practice. What else is important to the rider? Safety. According to Wilhelm, his helmet has saved his life numerous times while practicing the intense tricks.

While storms dominated much of the holiday weekend, skies were clear for Monday's Memorial Day celebration. The village hosted a parade and picnic, complete with ceremonies at Village Hall and Lisle Cemetery.
On May 22 the Lisle Park District sponsored the Tour de Lisle, an opportunity for residents to explore the village's bike paths, as well as links to nearby communities. A few sporadic rain showers didn't damper the afternoon. Those on the family ride made a pit stop at the Lisle Library, while advanced riders clocked in more than 20 miles. All participants enjoyed a post-ride picnic at Community Park.
The village paired with Benedictine University and gave residents an opportunity to recycle their electronics at Sustainable Saturday. Full results still aren't in, but roughly 400 cars rolled in to donate their unwanted goods, which included 43 sealed lead batteries, 97 pairs of glasses and two hearing aids. Reports on scrap metal and smaller electronics are forthcoming.

The Lisle French Market is again open for the season, inspiring the community to come together to support area businesses.  Windy Acres Farm from Geneva has participated for 20 years, well before the Saturday gathering went by the name of French Market. Amanda Srail represented her family farm over the weekend, and can recall being around helping her family run the business on weekends since she was in second grade. Salvatore Fulco of Elena's Cucina from Roselle is back for another year and will be there every weekend. But be sure to get to his booth early. He's known to sell out of his …
[Editor's note: we originally titled this as an 'Easter' egg hunt, though the park district did not publicize it as a holiday-related event. Patch regerts the error.] Scenes from the Lisle Park District Egg Hunt on April 16. The park district also posted a gallery of their own photos on their Facebook page.
"Hey, I want one of those" I thought (and my stomach rumbled) as I passed a sign in Naperville promoting a pancake breakfast last week. Days later,  I received an invite from Kiwanis Club member Debbie Breihan on Facebook to attend one.  And just like I believed I sprinkled the stars across the sky with a wave of my arm, I willed a Pancake Breakfast! Okay, not really.  The Pancake Breakfast was real, not my ability to will it. We arrived at Lisle Junior High around 8:30am and the smell of pancakes cooking on a griddle nearly knocked me over with hunger pangs. Kiwanis Club members were ladling…
After casting my vote today I took a drive around the village and snapped some shots of the various candidates' signs. I noticed a few subdivisions—like the Four Lakes—are lacking in signage (probably due to voting districts). How is your neighborhood looking? Looking for some local theatrical talent? Students at Lisle Senior High School and Benet Academy are busy preparing for their spring musical productions. Lisle Senior High School kicks off "Kiss Me Kate" on Thursday evening. “When I begin the process of choosing a show I look at underclassmen from past musicals whose abilities I'm aware of.  I choose a show knowing that I have students who could fill the roles.  Then, I'm always wonderfully surprised when new kids come in and raise the bar.  This year I have not only really talented sophomores, juniors and seniors, but a couple of new kids to…
