Village Board Approves Water, Sewer Rate Increase

Officials said the water rates are increasing due to the rising costs of purchasing water from the DuPage Water Commission. The sewer rate increase is needed for daily operations and to continue the annual pipe lining project.

Editor's note: The following is information from the village of Lisle.

Lisle Mayor Joe Broda and the Board of Trustees have approved a water and sewer rate increase, effective Feb. 1.

Officials said the water rates for Lisle customers are increasing due to the rising costs of purchasing water from the DuPage Water Commission. The sewer rate increase is needed for daily operations and to continue the annual pipe lining project.

Beginning with the March 2013 commercial water bills (Feb. 2013 usage) and the April 2013 residential water bills (Feb/March 2013 usage) the following rates will be in effect:

New Water Rates

  • $5 per 1,000 gallons (within village corporate limits)
  • $6.50 per 1,000 gallons (outside village corporate limits)

 New Sewer Maintenance Rates

  • $2.80 monthly (within the village corporate limits)
  • $5.60 bi-monthly (within the village corporate limits)
  • $4.66 monthly (outside village corporate limits)
  • $9.32 bi-monthly (outside village corporate limits)

So our electric bill will go down, but our sewer and water will go up?

The minimum bill will now be $35.60, up from $31. Residents should only be charged for the water they use.

2012 - Property taxes up, trash sticker prices up, water rates up...
And the Village will give $8M in property tax revenue to UTI. Population down.
What a banner year 2012 was.

Residents have to pay $35 to hear Broda spin all that into good news!!
No doubt he'll just skip over the 40% drop in sales tax revenue since his been Mayor. And he'll skip over the huge increase in property taxes and utility taxes.
Yup. - another banner year for Broda. He'll get to live with the mess he created for 4 more years since no one wants the job after the damage he's done.

People who are informed and vote have every right to express their views and criticize government. First Amendment to the US Constitution - Freedom of Speech. Some say it is the patriotic duty of a citizen to be informed and exercise one's right to question the actions of government.

Take, for example, the fact that on Monday night the Village Board will raise the price of liquor licences. That should help Lisle land a nice new restaurant - Not.

The only reason I know this is because the Village of Lisle posts their Board packets. The Lisle Park District and the Lisle Library should should post Board packets and broadcast their meetings, too.
