New Water Rates Now Effective

The Village of Lisle has provided information on its new water rates, which went into effect this week.

from the Village of Lisle

On Feb. 1, the water rates for Village of Lisle residential and commercial customers will increase due to the rising costs of purchasing water from the DuPage Water Commission.  The DuPage Water Commission is being charged substantially more for Lake Michigan water by the City of Chicago due to the City’s water rate increases.

In May 2011, the Village absorbed an increase in water rates from the DuPage Water Commission; however in order to effectively operate, maintain, and repair the Lisle’s water and sewer infrastructure, the Village needs to start offsetting these cost increases.

Beginning with the March 2012 commercial water bills (February 2012 usage) and the April 2012 residential water bills (Feb/March 2012 usage) rates will be charged as follows:

New Water Rates

  • $4.40 per 1,000 gallons (within Village corporate limits)
  • $5.72 per 1,000 gallons (outside Village corporate limits)

In Village Customers

  • $4.40 per 1,000 gallons - 6,000 gallon minimum usage for residential customers ($26.40)
  • 3,000 gallon minimum usage for commercial customers ($13.20)

Out of Village Customers

  • $5.72 per 1,000 gallons - 6,000 gallon minimum usage for residential customers ($34.32)
  • 3,000 gallon minimum usage for commercial customers ($17.16)

Why does Lisle charge a minimum usage? This does not encourage water conservation.
