Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

VOTE: Where Do You Order Your Bacon and Eggs?

Lisle Patch is kicking off the year with a way for residents to celebrate the best restaurants and retailers the village has to offer. This week share your favorite breakfast spot.

Maybe you don't think of world-famous cuisine when you think of the western suburbs, but it is where you eat most of your meals and run most of your errands. That qualifies you as an expert on where to go.

While spots like the Bavarian Lodge and Country House Restaurant are recognized regionally for their specialiteis (beer and burgers, respectively), Patch wants to know who Lisle residents designate the 'best of' in their village.

Over the next several weeks we'll be asking residents to vote for the local businesses they use and trust. We'll be pitting cuisines against each other (do you order your pizza from Evviva! or Barraco's? ribs from Firehouse or John's Rib House?). In addition to restaurants, we want to know where you have your car tuned up, get your hair cut, take your drycleaning, even picnic.

We're kicking off the series with the first meal of the day: breakfast. Whether it's for your daily commute donut or Sunday morning feast, click on your favorite spot at the bottom of this article.

How to vote
Patch will introduce its Best Of candidates each Wednesday morning. Readers have until the following Wednesday afternoon to voice their opinion via poll or write-in vote in the comments section. For purposes of keeping the contest manageable, only establishments within village limits are eligible. (Chain options, like McDonald's or Starbucks, will always require a write-in vote.)

Recommend a regular dish, nail technician, drink? Have a favorite spot that's out of town? Make a note in the comments.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The Best Of series is for-fun purposes only, because it's winter, and kind of boring. Voters are on the honor system. Please, keep comments constructive and friendly. This space is for celebrating who you think deserves to be called the best of the village, and obviously opinions will vary. We have a spot on the site for providing your specific customer experiences, and it's called our Places directory.

As always, anyone with questions about the contest or nominations (for future categories, businesses, or service providers) can contact Editor Karlie Baker at karlie@patch.com.

Where does everyone go out of town?
I'm partial to Omega and Juicy-O, both in Downers Grove.

I find that my eggs and bacon are prepared the best at home. The cost, even with the obama inflation, is still reasonable and I make them EXACTLY how I want them.

Not that it's a good thing, but prices overall actually dropped briefly under Obama and have been consistent with historical norms thereafter. Food price inflation specifically has actually been lower than usual under Obama.

Mr. Marklar (Jan 19, 2012): to suggest that food “prices overall actually dropped briefly under Obama” is as inaccurate as denying that gasoline prices haven’t DOUBLED since the coming of obama. WSJ 19 Jan, 2012: “The BLS said Thursday that its Consumer Price Index for all food climbed by an annual average of 3.7% in 2011.” This is a marked increase from historical levels. You do understand what promotes inflation Mr. Marklar do you not? You do understand who is injured most severely by inflation do you not? Want to permit this extreme inflation rate escalation to continue then vote for obama in 2012.

By the way, if you must eat breakfast in a restaurant I would suggest Granny's.

I am going to try to unravel the two issues here: "as inaccurate as denying that gasoline prices haven't doubled..." is the equivalent of "as inaccurate as saying that gasoline prices have doubled." I'm not sure if you meant to say that, but it's true. Gas prices certainly have not doubled under Obama.

Your statistics are also flawed in that my comment was when Obama first came to office, not that inflation has not since overcome the brief declines. Moreover, you cite one year and Obama has been President for more than just 2011.

Inflation is caused by a number of things and can be expected/desired by any economy at reasonable levels. Recent increases in prices are likely tied to lack of the traditional winter decline in gas prices, which is not related to Obama but instead to uncertainties in the Middle east. Moreover, 3.7% is not a terrible inflation rate.

Nothing I said was actually a defense of Obama, it actually began with "not that it's a good thing" because deflation is bad. I was simply pointing out a factual inaccuracy.
