St. Joan of Arc Parish Awarded Earth Flag

St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church was recently awarded Earth Flag Certification by SCARCE (School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education), on behalf of DuPage County.  This certification is recognition that St. Joan of Arc church is making progress towards operating in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.  At the award ceremony, the Earth Flag was presented by Kay McKeen and Kris Salmen of SCARCE and by John Zediker of the DuPage County Board.  Among the items highlighted in a proclamation by the board were conversion to energy efficient lighting, recycling, use of reusable tableware and flatware at parish events, holiday lights and gym shoe recycling collections, and environmentally beneficial volunteer work in the community.  This certification is a parish-wide accomplishment, as actions by many ministries at St. Joan of Arc contribute to environmental sustainability and Care for Creation.
