SJA Students Present Business Plan to Corporate Guests
St. Joan of Arc School's 7th grade class presented a Technology Information Management Business Plan to corporate representatives on May 18, 2012.
Corporate guests included Chris Cooney, retired Vice President of Global Sales, Tellabs, Steve Otto, Information Solutions Manager, Navistar and Charlie Stasica, retired IT Consultant in Strategic Planning. The goal of the presentation was to raise awareness of corporate representatives to existing partnership opportunities available at St. Joan of Arc School. During the past year, under the direction of their teacher, Mr. David Walls, students conducted an inventory of existing hardware and software available at St. Joan of Arc. Students also conducted an alumni survey sent to area high schools requesting alumni feedback regarding St. Joan of Arc technology preparation. Students reflected their research in the business plan.
The students shared with their guests that as a 2011 Blue Ribbon School, St. Joan of Arc offers a faith-based curriculum that integrates technology in their day to day classes. Students also identified technological challenges and needs over the next several years in order to stay current with technology.
At the conclusion of their presentation, Steve Otto, Information Solutions Manager, Navistar, Inc., stated “It was my pleasure to participate as an audience member in the presentation. The students did an excellent job of summarizing their mission to learn and prepare for High School, how they currently use technology to facilitate learning and the challenges they face using legacy equipment and software. The need to update your core technology platforms is clear and I truly believe it will facilitate even greater learning. I was impressed by the pride, eagerness and camaraderie that the students displayed during the presentation and the tour they provided me of your facilities – I must say, it was a remarkable experience.”
