Puppy parlor protest

Thank you to everyone who attended our protest on Saturday!  I don't understand how the businesses next to this store can stand the smell of this place.   I don't understand how this is allowed to continue.  As I type this, the dogs in the back room of the puppy parlor are stuck in their cages.  Imagine it, picture it, they are going back and forth, barking, yelping, nipping at each other, back and forth all night long..... 40 to 60 of them, two to a cage.   If you have bought a sick or dying dog from puppy parlor, please go to www.caps-web.org and fill out a pet store complaint form.  We will be here every Saturday from 1:00 - 3:00.  Please join us!  Thank you.

I also wanted to just make a comment on the red pick up truck with license plates from Indiana trying to intimidate us for about an hour. Your blacked out windows do not scare us, nor does the video you were filming scare us. Take our pictures, we don't care. Cowards hide behind blacked out windows and back rooms where nobody can see what is going on.

Join our protest this Sat 2/16 from 1-3pm. We'll be in front of this awful store. Ya can't miss us.

And if you live in Lisle, pls contact the Mayor and Trustees. Respectfully ask them to pass the ordinance preventing any future puppy mill distributing pet stores, like Puppy Parlor, from opening in your town. They have everything they need to legally pass this ordinance. Villa Park did it, Lisle can too. If they choose to.

Here's how to contact them:

I do not live in Lisle but this behavior with puppy parlor featuring puppy mill puppies should be against the law.

You should call the police about the truck with the blacked out windows filming you. It may not be criminal, but it is suspicious and the police would come and check it out. Freaky place, freaky people associated with it. Why doesn't the mayor do something about it? Makes the whole town seem weird and back woods. I have no respect for this town anymore. Hillbillies !!

Does anyone know why they are not passing the ordinance since they are able to legally? Why would they allow this to continue if they can legally stop it?

I hope people contact the Mayor and Trustees about this animal abuse issue.
I don't like the fact that there was a truck outside with blacked out windows filming you. That was obvious intimidation. If you google the owner's name, articles come up saying that a person with the same name has had trouble with the law before. She sounds like bad news when you google the name, and she sounds like bad news because of the way she's acted throughout the last month. She flipped off the protesters with children around, and now the blacked out truck filming the protesters. That's ridiculous. The town really should get rid of this problem person who is running a business where the animals are being abused. And probably a puppy mill in back as well. Absolutely ridiculous that this is going on.

Again, I would really like to know why the mayor doesn't pass the ordinance to stop this.

We are trying to do everything we can....the ordinance would not stop her, but it would prevent future pet stores from opening. The abuse alone in this store should be enough to get her out of here. I heard she was kicked out of Bolingbrook. Maybe the Lisle council should talk to Bolingbrook.

I know people want the ordinance passed. I don't understand why the Mayor doesn't pass it. They can do it if they want to, they have everything they need...why not do it? Why not prevent future pet stores from doing this? It's beginning to outrage me.
They could merely pass an ordinance which would prevent future abuse..and yet they choose not to. Based on what? Total lack of concern about what the people in the town want? Total disregard for the quality of life for animals? Total lack of compasssion? Why won't they do what is right when it is so easy for them to do. They have everything they need. Simply pass the ordinance. Do the right thing!

I have a question. I viewed The Illinois Animal Welfare Act.

In this document it lists the grounds for discipline for pet shop owners.
One of the grounds stated is "proof that licensee is guilty of gross negligence, incompetency, or cruelty with regard to animals".

Selling sick puppies fits that catagory. Having dead puppies in the freezer fits into that catagory.

And putting two dogs together in a tiny cage, and never letting them outside for exercise fits into that catagory. Not exercising the dogs would lead to muscle atrophy for the dogs. Muscle atrophy is the breaking down and wasting away of muscle.

All of these things fit under the catagory of grounds of discipline. What's going on here? Why isn't this woman being cited?

Very frustrating isn't it? The pet shops are governed by the Illinois Dept Of Agriculture. The pet shops are licensed by the state. We have been around and around with the Illinois Dept Of Agriculture for years about pet shops. Especially this one. They send out an investigator, and nothing gets done. The investigator says, Oh, this is ok and leaves. The Illinois Dept Of Agriculture should be investigated, they are useless. There was a distemper outbreak last year at happiness is pets, several dogs died, and they were NEVER quarantined. The stores stayed open and continued to sell sick and dying puppies. Just used that as an example of why this place is still open. But on the other hand....if the village wanted this store gone, they could have thought of SOME way to do it, in my opinion. Re-zoning, something. And this store does not have a business license, they could take her business license away maybe. I don't know all the ins and outs of the village zoning, etc. I'm ready to call the EPA. That place must be toxic inside. Those poor dogs. Don't forget we just found out about this place 8 weeks ago. We're not going to go away.

I forgot when the town is meeting about this. Can you please give me the date and time again? What is it, is it a meeting where everyone is allowed to give their opinion to the town about this place and future pet shops like this being allowed in Lisle?

It's March 4th, Monday at 7:00PM. It's an open public forum meeting where anyone can talk. We'll be there!

Maybe at this afternoon's protest you should make the public aware that the meeting is being held. People against puppy mills and puppy mill pet shops may want to go. Maybe hold up a couple of signs about it.
It's awesome that you guys are out in the cold doing these protests. I know a lot of people who would be out there with you if it was warmer. Spring is around the corner :)
