Group Protests Puppy Parlor on Main; Next Demonstration This Saturday

Puppy parlor on Main St. in Lisle sells dogs from puppy mills. This store sells dogs from Dennis & Donna Van Wyck, Prairie Kennels, a puppy mill in Iowa, and many other puppy millers.  The Companion Animal Protection Society has the undercover investigation of this kennel, please visit www.caps-web.org to view it.  And if that's not bad enough, we would also like to know why there are over 40 adult dogs, two to a cage, being fed with hamster tubes in the back of the store.  The cages are stacked on each other, three high.  Are the dogs breeding back there?  That's how the puppy millers do it.  They put two dogs in a cage and force them to breed.  The owner will not allow anyone to view the back room, but we have inspection reports from the Illinois Department Of Agriculture with the pictures they took.  Is this a puppy mill in Lisle?   I walked in the alley behind the store and could hear the dogs screaming and crying.  Do they ever get out of the cage?  Just where do these dogs go to the bathroom?  In the cage?  Do they get any vet care?  Do they get anything at all?  The smell by the back door is horrendous!  Please everyone, take a walk back there and get a whiff of this, and hear the dogs screaming.  In my opinion, this is animal abuse and running a puppy mill.  We held a peaceful protest on Sunday and will continue to educate the public every weekend.  If you want to join us, that would be great! Join us at our next protest, Saturday December 29th from 1:00 - 3:00. Please contact me at CAPS, website above,  Ida McCarthy, if anyone has any information on this place.  Thank you!

Lisle, PLEASE, PLEASE check this out. We do not need this in our village! This is CRUELTY plain and simple. These dogs need to be removed to a place of safety and the owner prosecuted!!!!

Good for Ida McCarthy! She and Diane Dorado are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to " Puppy Mill Dogs"!! They do the research and know of what they speak. I've been to some of the protests and these ladies are RIGHT ON! We need to outlaw pet sales from pet stores and put the mills out of business. They do NOTHING but breed misery and sick dogs with congenitle problems. They don't breed for QUALITY , they breed for QUANTITY and do a very poor job of that. Get this place of misery out of Lisle and shut them down for good!

This place is an absolute disgrace! Went in once a few years ago and the poor puppies looked dead... had to touch it to make sure. So incredibly sad! Want a pet? Go to the shelter! Or All Pet Pantry down on Main has kitties from a local shelter. They are a cruelty free zone! Great little store, all natural products and the owner is super knowledgeable!

Thanks for mentioning our store, All Pet Pantry. We are proud to work with local rescues to help homeless pets find forever homes. We are able to keep some cats and bunnies in our store. We hold adoption events with dog rescues and keep binders with the pictures of adoptable dogs in our store to help connect customers with the dogs that are kept in foster homes.

I will go in and try to look around and try to get more proof. If these people treat animals like this I would hate to see how they treat their kids if they have any.

This is how Parvo outbreaks happen also. So if you do go in that store be sure to wash your hands and clothes before going near your animals at home....it is very contagious.

I just went in there nasty. I feel sorry for the dogs. I just filed a complaint with the Department of Agriculture which is who oversees these and shelters.

Did they show you that horrific back room, Sue?

I made several complaints back in May and had began collecting signatures to bring to the town meetings in hopes of getting her shut down. Unfortunately, I didn't have any experience or much knowledge on how to actually go about everything legally and effectively. I'll be there on Saturday!

How about attending the next Village Board meeting and speaking about this!!??
The meetings are televised and speaking at the meeting could help spread the word!!

Jeanine, you are all liars. I'm looking at a complaint from 2-2012 sent to CAPS, about a puppy that was bought and got sick from Prairie Lane Kennels. The store is trying to "reduce inventory" says it all. Making money off of innocent creatures who cannot speak up for themselves. Locked in cages all day. The dogs are nothing but money in your eyes, like a car, or a TV. Shameful. Oh, and yes, we know all about the other puppy mills this place uses, Conrad Kennels, Heritage Puppies, Oleo Acres, JAKS puppies, Tiffany & Nick Menne, etc. Google them.

Could someone from CAPS please provide a complete list of the authorities that we can contact to file complaints with about this. Most of us would like to help, but aren't sure who to contact.
I also hope that all forms of the media are notified as well.

Mary L - My answer is going to be a long one because it's complicated. You can call the IL Dept of Agriculture and report Puppy Parlor but the US DOA has been to PP 5 times this year alone. The problem is that animals are considered property therefore the threshold for what's considered 'cruel' is very high. From the HSUS report it states investigators considered the conditions in PP as "acceptable" even tho parvo puppies were sold, puppies died, or were sick and dying on PP's premises, etc. This is VERY hard to wrap your brain around, I know. We NEED to get the laws changed nationwide to protect our companion animals from people who run pet stores and treat these animals so horrifically. Due to the grass roots outreach at our protests and the help of social media we're getting the word out about pet stores selling sick puppy mill puppies and educating people about puppy mills. Heck, on Sat alone, I talked with 4 people who didn't have a clue about PP and their puppy mill dogs. Let alone know what a puppy mill is. So they'll tell their friends. And so on.

Mary L (cont'd) - So at this point we think it's best to go the media route. If you, and anyone who wants to DO something, will call the local news outlets, I will put the links here. There is power in public opinion.

Lastly, pls call the Mayor and Village Council Members and ask them to adopt an ordinance similar to what Villa Park did (Ida and I got that one passed) to keep any hell hole pet stores OUT of Lisle in the future. If you ask them to get Puppy Parlor out of Lisle, they'll just tell you she's supposed to move to Downers Grove so they won't consider it "their" problem anymore. It's critical they pass the ordinance! We provided them with the ordinance VP passed, so they have everything they need to get it done. If they hear from enough residents, it might spur them into action. But PLEASE be respectful.

Oh, and pls don't bother calling the Lisle PD. They're as disgusted w/PP as we are but are legally bound and can't do anything about her. That's why I'm reaching out to previous or current PP employees to talk with CAPS to see if we have an angle there.

Hope this helps. Thank you SO much for your help and dedication to those poor puppies crammed inside those cages in that hellish back room! Find me on Facebook Mary (if we aren't already FB friends!)

Thank you so much for this information. I'll respectfully contact each one. It's not enough to shake your head and say, "It's so sad". Although it's nice for people to have compassion and feel bad about this, compassion alone won't stop the abuse. But by contacting the right people and letting your voices be heard the abuses can stop.
Thank you again for this list of contacts.

You hit the nail on the head Mary L. It's NOT enough to shake your head, wring your hands or be disgusted. Action gets things done. I wish I could clone you - a few million times! Thanks for your help spreading the word. And thank you for TAKING ACTION! Hope to see you at our protest at Puppy Parlor this Sat 1/5 1-3pm

We had bad experience with this store. A year ago, we adopted an adult dog. Tommy the owner did not allow us to take a look at her backyard, and did not allow us to take a walk, just look at the dog in the cage with another dog. She told us to charge $250. When I bill with CC, she charged me $395. Asked how come so high, she listed other hidden charges "she paid", microchip, shots, etc, even 3% for using CC. Tommy is greedy and cannot be trusted. Lisle needs to investigate it.

If you would like to read about the horrific conditions inside Puppy Parlor and their cruel treatment of their dogs and puppies, here's the investigation recently conducted by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. See page 4:
