Lisle, A Great Place to Grow a Business - Evviva! Celebrates Seven Years
Lisle Mayor Joe Broda congratulated Rob Salerno, owner of Evviva! Bar & Eatery, which is celebrating its seven year anniversary in Downtown Lisle. He thanked Rob for his business and his contributions to the community saying, "The Village Board approved a Facade Grant for Evviva! in 2005 and we are pleased that decision contributed to the creation of a highly successful, long term business which has become a popular destination in Downtown Lisle."
Rob responded by commenting, "Downtown Lisle has really undergone major improvement in a very short time frame.
It's been great to see the success and growth Evviva! has had over the past seven years as a result of the support from our community. That's why we pride ourselves on hosting events such as the annual "Toys for Tots" toy drive and "Evivva Gives Back" events to show our appreciation for those who support Evivva! With the continued revitalization of Downtown Lisle, we look forward to the years to come. Thank you!

There is NO REVITALIZATION! It never happened. Saying the word "revitalize" doesn't make it happen.
The rest of downtown Lisle business owners cannot lease first floor space even at 10 bucks sf and call the taxpayers investment in downtown a failure with no viable plan ("build-it-and-they-will-come" is not a plan). They want to be able to lease to offices and the Village restrictions on business owners is crippling them. One might think Lisle is run by Democrats who like alot of government regulations!
Thousands of people get on/off a train everyday in downtown Lisle and yet all those people chose to get in their cars and shop/eat somewhere else. Why?
video of public hearing will be posted here:

Watch the UTI decision folks.. Village changed their comprehensive land use plan and zoning code put in place for the tech corridor about 35 years ago to allow that thing to go in (basically a big box auto mechanics garage) and gave them carte blanch on tree removal and another $6M incentive (our money) to sweeten the deal for a friend of Broda's.
However, I just read today that the Federal gov't awarded $500 MILLION in grants to community colleges to expand certain programs, including diesel technology programs.
UTI's stock is down.

I can't believe the Village is allowing outdoor concrete crushing demolition operations on the UTI site. Concrete dust is a very dangerous form of toxic air pollution. When breaking up, crushing or grinding concrete, the dust can enter the body and cause silicosis. Silicosis damages the lungs and causes breathing difficulties and increases the risk of lung infections.
