The Benedictine University volleyball program is proud to announce their 2012 schedule. After a year without any regular season home matches due to floor reconstruction, the Eagles will host two tournaments along with nine regular season home events.
“We have been looking forward to playing at home for a long time now,” said head coach Jennifer Wildes. “Our facility is fantastic and we are excited to play in front of our fans again."
Benedictine begins the 2012 season in St. Louis, Mo. where they take on Benedictine University-Springfield, Webster College, Missouri Valley Community College and Fontbonne University over Labor Day weekend.
The Eagles return from Missouri to take part in the North Park University Vikings Clash on September 7 and 8. Benedictine travels to Alverno College for their first Northern Athletics Conference game of the season on September 11.
On September 15, BenU will host the annual Red & Black Triangular. At 10:00 a.m. the Eagles will play North Central College and then host Lake Forest College at 2:00 p.m. September 15 also marks Benedictine University’s 2012 Homecoming event.
Aurora University will make the short trip over to Benedictine on September 19 for a mid-week conference match. That weekend, the Eagles travel o Decatur, Ill. to compete in the Millikin University Tournament.
The Eagles will host Concordia University-Wisconsin on September 25, and then travel to non-conference foe, University of Chicago, on the 26th.
The conference schedule picks up beginning September 28 when BenU hosts Marian University followed by Lakeland College on the 29th. The Milwaukee School of Engineering travels to Lisle on October 2 before the Eagles play their final two road games of the season on October 5 and 6 at Edgewood College and Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
“I think it is going to be a battle for the NAC championship again,” added Wildes about the tough conference schedule. “There will be many tough matches but I think that our non-conference schedule will help us to prepare."
Benedictine hosts their final four regular season conference matches. Concordia University-Chicago play in the Rice Center on October 10 while the Eagles host Rockford College on October 16. After hosting Dominican University on October 20, the Eagles take on Wisconsin Lutheran College on October 24.
To end the regular season, BenU will host their annual Benedictine University Eagle Classic. First up for the Eagles is North Park and University of Chicago on October 26. The second day of the tournament includes matches against North Central and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The NAC Tournament begins on October 30, which the Eagles have been a part of since the start of the league in 2006.
